NTD positive on Triple marker test - Amniocentesis?

33 years old female with 18 weeks amenorrhea.with positive pregnancy- with history of persistent bleeding P/V off and on - since last one month with passage of clots in between. After going through- the USG report- a TRIPLE MARKER TEST was advised. It was positive for NTD Whether- she should go for abortion or first get amniocentesis done. Opinions welcomed

Target scan done by an experienced sonologist is a good option, management to be decided accordingly. Abortion would be a hasty decision, seek opinion of fetal medicine expert and paediatric surgeon for prognosis .

Test positive results are in favour of neural tube defect spina bifida or anencephaly and passing of clots or bleeding P/V goes in favour of MTP but before going for assessment and evaluation of condition and opinion available must be looked carefully.

Triple marker test positive for NEural tube defect less for down syndrome Spina bifida or Anencephaly will be present. So better option is abortion
