UPDATE ON THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN HYPERGLYCEMIA IN COVID19 & MORTALITY

Dear my friends and fellow Colleagues, Here is an update on Hyperglycemia in COVID 19 woth or without prior history of Diabetes. COVID-19 Patients admitted with Uncontrolled Hyperglycaemia with or without history of prior diabetes are at significantly increased risk of mortality. Outcomes are worse in patients without previous diagnosis of Diabetes. Clinicians should achieve target glucose levels of <180mg/dl in order to reduce mortality. A study of 1122 patients in USA. Journal Of Diabetes Science & Technology. April, 2020. Regards and thanks, Dr Sepuri Krishna Mohan.

Very useful n informative post. Sir, what about those who are on ACEi & DPP4i? Affinity of SARS-COV2 towards ACE-2 & DPP4 in interstitial cell of lungs is more & increased fatality.
Dear Sandeep, Thanks a lot for your comments. ESC recommended usage of ACEIs/ARBs in patients suffering from HTN a week ago. DPP4 Inhibitors should be stopped. ESC European Society of Cardiology. Regards and thanks, Dr Sepuri Krishna Mohan

Thanks for the informative and useful update Dr Sepuri Krishna Mohan. The same view has been echoed in The journal of endocrinological investigation " That adults with DM are no more likely to contract COVID 19 , than people without DM , but could die from complications of the disease according to analysis of data, from China and Italy" Thanks and regards
