Pranams Papa . Wonderful update as usual Papa. You are great all in all and you know everything about this post Papa. I want to highlight certain points regarding this to the fellow colleagues. Multiple cases of GBS are reported with Covid 19 infection in foreign countries. 1) These cases presented with Acute onset of areflexic quadriparesis. 2) Preceding symptoms like Aguesia , Hyposmia , fever and cough with dyspnea were unique in COVID 19 associated with GBS. 3) More cases seen in males. 4) This is mostly seen in elderly patients. 5) Mean time to develop GBS is 5 to 14 days. 6) Patients with Covid 19 related GBS had a severe disease with respiratory failure due to lobar pneumonia and interstitial pneumonitis. 7) Chest CT scan showed ground glass appearance of lungs in these cases. 8) Demyelinating neuropathy is more common in COVID 19 with GBS. Majority of patients with Covid 19 related GBS had Axonal motor ( AMAN) and Axonal motor and sensory polyneuropathy (AMSAN). 9) A few of these patients showed enhancement of caudal Nerve roots On Gadolinium - enhanced MRI spine. 10) Outcomes are poor in COVID 19 related GBS cases due to long ICU stay, residual paresis and dysphagia. 11 ) The pathogenesis of polyneuropathy in COVID 19 related GBS is not clear and believed to be due to cross immunity against epitopes of peripheral nerves and viral antigens.
Agree with Dr Krishnan Pichumani that COVID-19 prodives demyelination and can cause cause gullain barre as many other viruses are known to cause G.B.S. While large research studies are underway, overall it appears that Guillain-Barré syndrome is a rare but serious phenomenon possibly linked to COVID-19. Given that more than 10.7 million cases have been reported for COVID-19, there have been 10 reported cases of COVID-19 patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome so far – only two reported cases in the US, five in Italy, two cases in Iran and one from Wuhan, China

There are so many new things to come up with the advancement of the new pandemic, CoViD-19. Day by day interrelationships will be established & also new symptoms will be discovered.
Thank you doctor

Likely ,COVID produces demyelination. Other demyelinating diseases like Transverse myelitis, peripheral neuropathy, MS can also be expected to surface in COVID infection.
Thank you ,Doctor
