DPP4 INHIBITORS + BASAL INSULIN BETTER IN HOSPITALIZED T2DM PATIENTS.

Dear my friends and fellow Colleagues, Here is an update on DPP4 Inhibitors PLUS Basal Insulin is better in Hospitalized T2DM patients than Basal Bolus Insulin Regimen. DPP-4 inhibitors ± basal insulin, effective with lower hypoglycaemic events as compared to basal bolus insulin regimen, in hospitalised T2DM patients https://www.endocrinologyadvisor.com/home/topics/diabetes/type-2-diabetes/dpp-4-inhibitors-in-hospitalized-patients-with-t2d/ Accession Date: May 18, 2020. Regards and thanks, Dr Sepuri Krishna Mohan.

Wonderful update Dr Mohan as usual. The Researchers have drawn the inference from post hoc analysis of the 3 pooled RCTs Sita-Pilot Sita-Hospital Linagliptin Surgery, where in Sitagliptin was either used Alone Or with Basal Insulin whereas Linagliptin was used alone in the above mentioned RCTs. The results were published in Endocrine Practice. Usually no International Authority had mentioned about Oral Pills in Hospitalised T2DM patients except Insulin. The advantage of DPP4 Inhibitor + Basal Insulin is no hypoglycemia when compared to Basal Bolus Insulin Regimen. Any way it's a novel combination which can be tried in Aseptic Hospitalized T2DM patients. Thanks again Dr Mohan for a wonderful update.
Nice summary Dr Devi.
