HELLP syndrome is associated with pregnancy. It is a serious complication of high blood pressure during pregnancy. H- Hemolysis. EL - Elevated liver enzymes. LP - Low platelet count. It usually develops before 37 th week of pregnancy and sometimes immediately after delivery. Symptoms are Nausea Headache Stomach pain Swelling. Signs are High blood pressure Abdominal pain Swelling of extremities and face. Enlargement of liver Elevated liver enzymes Low platelet count. Treatment is Low salt diet Control of blood pressure by Betablockers. Induction of labour and deliver the baby naturally or Caesarean section. If baby is not developed give steroids for lung maturity. Blood and platelet transfusion if required. Magnesium sulfate can be used to prevent seizures.

HELPP also called hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelet count. This is a serious complication of high blood pressure during pregnancy generally diagnosed preeclampsia. Symptoms include nausea, headache ,swelling and stomach pain, blurred vision, chest pain This causes problems blood,liver, blood pressure and damage to other organs eg kidneys. Thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia and liver dysfunction are characteristic
