WHICH FINGER IS MORE SUITABLE FOR PULSE OXIMETRY???

AN UPDATE: COVID-19 Q.WHICH FINGER IS MORE SUITABLE FOR PULSE OXIMETRY AND WHY???? ANS: Middle finger of the dominant hand. Brief Discussion : Index finger dominantly is fed from deep palmar arcus created from radial artery. But middle finger receive both ulnar and radial artery blood supply. Mizukoshi et al. have investigated the most suitable finger for the measurement of the pulse oximetric monitoring. Higher perfusion in the middle finger seems reasonable to expect the highest and most accurate SpO2 value. According to the results of the study, the middle finger of the dominant hand has the highest and possibly the most accurate SpO2 measurements. SOURCE: Ncbi Publications....
