Hi Doc Emotional incontinence is also known as pseudobulbar affect or pathological laughter is a medical condition. But history says client had crying episodes while watching movie. Is client crying or tearful ? It’s more emotional response to movie scenes, she is suffering from emotional dysregulation. explore underlying, trauma, anxiety and depression. Many people are tearful while watching movies and some people shout and these are common responses. she just need psychological support and reassurance saying that’s just a movie and it’s not real. CBT Intervention and OT input needed. Treat if she qualifies for any mental disorders. Regards, Dr. Dasari

A Complete & Proper history taking is required with Mental Status Examination (MSE) to reach to an Appropriate Diagnosis. Crying in response to emotional movie or TV Serials is very common in normal women, unless it becomes abnormal to an extent, that it starts interfering with Social, Interpersonal & Occupational Functioning of the patient.

Maybe sometime in her early childhood she was exposed to some emotional situation with crying spells. Now after seeing emotional movie, same behaviour pattern is stimulated. Her childhood/Parenting history is important.

Pathology crying...?

Detailed history required .Any precipitant? Crying in response to watching emotional movie does not indicate any psychopathology. Hence extensive history nMSE needed to come on any conclusion

She must be watching when some emotional scene is going on, I have watched many people weeping. So she has to accept that is what she is. Nothing abnormal.

Further history needed... Any predisposing factors??

Paroxetine tablet use for... Before to see emotional move can take it...period of one week...for adults dose.
