Why laryngomalacia is associated with gerd

Persistent GER may produce stridor,probably because of acute inflammation of the upper airway. If structural anomalies are ruled out, infants with severe stridor should be examined for GERD

With GERD, there is regurgitation of acid food / acid gas ,especially when patient is sleeping. This gas gets inhaled back into lungs, and it can irritate larynx and cause laryngomalacia
