Adenocarcinoma of jejunum

Chief complaint A 44 y/o male presented with nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Vitals BP: 130/80 mmhg, Resp rate: 19 bpm, Pulse: 80 bpm, Temp: 98.8 degree F Investigations CT scan was done which shows thickening of the upper small intestine. Fluoroscopic examination shows a 15 to 20 cm tumor mass in the jejunum. In endoscopy tumor was diagnosed as adenocarcinoma. Treatment What should be the management plan?

Adenocarcinoma of jejunum requires staging . A PET scan before surgery can assess the staging . If no- distant metastasis A radical surgical resection with adequate normal margins and mesentric lymphadenectomy - if possible more than 15 lymph node removal improves prognosis. Depending upon the resected tumour mass - post operative chemotherapy may be indicated

Primary adenocarcinoma of jejunum are highly malignant tumors, with rapid spread to other organs and poor response to chemotherapy Currently it need to be treated with radical resection followed by chemotherapy
