Adverse effects of over use of steroid oint 1) Skin atrophy , telangectasia, pigmentation, acneiform rashes 2) Bacterial, viral ,fungal overgrowth, resistance due to adverse effect of steroids on immune mechanism, involving macrophages, monocytes ,NK cells , by interfering with phagocytic activity and reduction of secretion of cytokines and IL1 and 6.. 3) Prolonged use of higher end steroids like clobetasol, can result in significant absorption of steroids , and cause Cushing syndrome. 4 ) Steroid use masks the diagnosis of skin lesions like Tenia , causing confusing clinical picture ,( Tenia incognito )

Mostly side effects of steroids are seen when used for long periods irrelevantly either by pt themself or by ignorance Yes HPA axis is suppressed and hence problems Local steroid applications also cause tachyphylaxis and hypertrophy and hence resistance and relapses But i will advicte the judicious use to contain and control the lesions
