Severe vit c deficiency like Malabsorption And Burns Needs higher parental doses. It can be given in large volume dilution like NS or dextrose. Mild to moderate deficiency like Poor bone and dental development Severe infections, hemovascular indications. The average protective dose of vitamin C for adults is 70 to 150 mg daily. In the presence of scurvy, doses of 300 mg to 1 g daily are recommended. However, as much as 6 g has been administered parenterally to normal adults without evidence of toxicities.
Sir whats the criteria for giving it iv in burn patients.

High-dose vitamin C has been studied as a treatment for patients with cancer. High doses of vitamin C may slow the growth and spread of prostpate, pancreatic, liver, colon, and other types of cancer. High-dose vitamin C may be harmful in patients with certain risk factors. In patients with a history of kidney disorders.. In patients with an inherited disorder called G-6-PD deficiency.. High doses of the vitamin are not recommended for patients with hemochromatosis . Let me clear that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved the use of IV high-dose vitamin C as a treatment for cancer or any other medical condition
