Depressive episode

56/y/o house-wife with symptoms- feelings of sadness, anorexia, recurrent suicidal thoughts, and difficulty sleeping. No H/o any other ongoing medical issues. Recently her kids moved to another city, she stays home alone. The symptoms have been present for the last year, and have increased day by day. On examination- no systemic abnormality She is kapha vata prakriti and has madhyam agni bala.




Depression or Manovadada Ask her to engage her self in some activities like listening to music, spending time with her age friends and avoid loneliness and try to read some motivational stories Maha kalyanaka grita 5ml in the morning with warm water Kamaduga rasa with mouktika 2bd Smritisagara rasa 1bd Brahmi taila 2 drops as nasal drops before going to bed.

I agree @Dr. Savitha Nagendra . The pt is in moderate depression as she has frequent suicidal ideations but not tried (I think). She has to be engaged in one or the other activities, ask her to listen to the music which she likes the most. Sometimes change of place is also advised. I would like to add Jatamansi churna + Jyotishmati churna + Brahmi or Shveta Shankhapushpi churna mixed well and this mixture is given ½ tsp tds or 1 tsp bd.

Counselling, yoga, meditation with good nutritional diet will help.

She should first change her possessive nature....and learn to take life as it is.... with pure veg diet and Gods name...she should not feel lonely.... whatever happens happens for the best...
