23 year old female patient C/O pain in left breast upper quadrant since last 3 months. Menstrual history is normal The patient has no other relevant significant history. On consulting her gyaenecologist patient went for an Ultrasound. Reports shown in the images. The reports revealed Myocysticercosis. Kindly suggest the required treatment!

Myo- cysticercosis . Generally do not require treatment as it dead end of the parasite . But in this case - as it is symptomatic . Initially- I will start with medical treatment like Praziquantel 50 mg / Kg / day for 3 weeks OR Albemdazole 15 mg/ kg for 2 weeks. Review after 3 months- if it is still symptomatic- then surgical excision is indicated

Though presented with pain breast but USG confirmed as a case of cysticercosis of the pectoralis muscles .It is a parasitic infection caused by cystcercus cellulosae a larval form of Tenia sollium a pork tale worm, usually found when the pork is under cooked food. The common sites of affection are nerve tissue, musceles, cub cutaneous tissue and eye. Cysticercosis nodule are soft to firm consistency usually non tender. USG confirms the diagnosis Treatment Tab Albendazole 15 m per kg body weight maximum upto 1200 intwo diveded doses daily for 15 days Tab Praxiquantel 15 mg per kg body weight in there divided doses daily Steroid should be given as there is every chance of anaphylactic shock due the toxin present in the parasite. surgical excision of the nodule to see presence of cysticercitum cellulosae larvae.
