SGLT2 INHIBITORS REDUCE ATRIAL FIBRILLATION PROGRESSION IN TYPE 2DM

Good morning dear friends and fellow colleagues, One more latest update on SGLT2 Inhibitors regarding reduction of progression of Atrial fibrillation. The use of SGLT2 Inhibitors in Type 2 DM patients may help in Atrial fibrillation/ Atrial flutter reduction, suggests a recent study in the journal Cardiovascular Diabetology. This reduction benefit is independent of systolic blood pressure, age, HbA1C, body weight at base line. Reduction in AF/ AFL may be due to pharmacological impacts on decreases in HbA1C, blood pressure, body weight, and the occurrence of heart failure. This is a systematic review with meta-analysis of 16 randomised controlled trials published in the journal. With regards, Dr Sepuri Tirumala Devi
