Despite the plethora of information on the subject and evidence based guidelines available, one often finds it difficult to make critical decisions and the burden of morbidity is high. Very nice guidelines In addition to addressing pathogen and appropriate antibiotic treatment, host factors also need to be addressed Many patients have diabetes, strict control of blood sugar with insulin will help in rapid recovery from pneumonia Other factors such as vitamin deficiency, Anemia, heart failure, renal failure also need to be treated

CABP a LRTI most commonly seen in indian setups and finds difficult to treat as limitations of drugs used are either resistant or lowely sensitive Low spectrum finds organism developing resistance fast Strepto sta0hylo klebsiella and L pneumonae Choice is MACROLIDES +BROADSPECTRUM B LACTATE ANTIBIOTICS like meropanum or piperacillin+inj tazobactum Poor response and recurrence remains a challenge

Most important tool for diagnosing CABP is CBC and xray chest PA view but culture and senstivity of sputum must be taken into account without delay to prevent complications and for accuracy of tt. Nice guidlines to treat CABP empirically.
