Hip Dislocation?
4 months old Full-term baby delivery by CS. No chief complaint. All her siblings are normal physically and with fine mental development Is she suffering from a hip dislocation according to this picture and what is the management and prognosis if its s dislocation?
Right hip is definitely involved Medial tear drop shadow to medial proximal femur distance is increased compared to left Acetabulum is shallow and acetabular index is different from left Even left side could be dysplastic Further investigations to assess cartilagenous areas of acetabulum and proximal femur needed Usg evaluation is adequate In the past arthogram was used Better avoided because it is invasive and pain full MRI evaluation in this age is difficult. At this age acetabulum may be filled with fibrous tissue Open reduction and plication of capsule is an option Better handled by a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon
It takes time—sometimes 2 to 3 months—for the hip to heal after a dislocation. The rehabilitation time may be longer if there are additional fractures. The doctor may recommend limiting hip motion for several weeks to protect the hip from dislocating again. Physical therapy is often recommended during recovery
No dislocation
