Less than 5% chances of getting false negative RT PCR in covid 19, that too depending upon day of infection on which swab sample is taken. HRCt thorax has 97% sensitivity with around 25to30% specificity.

Accurate study will be published after this pandemic id over or end statistics will be there. Presently we are told that around 5% false negative results so many factors contribute like sampling , timing, place of collection , transportation etc but still RT PCP IS A GOLD TEST FOR COVID DETECTION. HRCT has 97 % sensitivity and around 25% specifically.

ALTHOUGH SPECIFIC DATA. IS NOT AVAILABLE.... STILL... BOTH CT. SCAN AND RT PCR.....ARE ... PREFERRED

Less than 5% chances getting false negative on RTPCR While HRCT chest 98% sensitivity

5% chance

Both are different test with different sensitivity and senstivity. CT is more sensitive than RT PCR BUT RT PCR IS MORE SPECIFIC. In RT PCR negative patient , if CT and sign symptoms and other blood test are suggestive of COVID , then alway repeat covid RT PCR. In covid RT PCR patient , then CT is usefull to see the lung involvement, and acertain the lung volume involved, and to assess the severity , and to some extent the phase of illness. In RT PCR postive , CT is not useful for diagnosis.
