Hyperpigmented, asymptomatic plaque over tongue

Hyperpigmented, asymptomatic plaque over tongue in a young male. Without any co-morbidity, resolved spontaneously in 1 month.

Hairy tongue. Patient wud be a smoker or he might be taking any medications.

Hairy tongue... Causes:-smoking,may b due prolonged use of certian immunocompromised drugs etc... Causitive agent:-epstein barr virus t/t:- first scrap/clean the area with the help of cotton dipped in h2o2, as much as possible... Do scaling if needed.. A good balanced diet rich in anti oxidants... Maintenance of oral hygiene... Oral gel like stomacare... Recall after 10 days and check the condition of lesion... U can give antiviral drugs later as well if the condition doesn't subside after 2-3 visits ...

It's a case of Black hairy tongue (Lingua Villosa Nigra).
