30 year old gentleman presented in emergency with pain abdomen and not passing stool since last 5 days History of- taken unknown oral solution for haemorrhoids from a quack Chief Complaints Pain abdomen Distension Non passing of stool History Taken unknown oral medicine/ solution from an quack Vitals Stable Physical Examination Abdominal distension Mild tenderness Investigations Usg abdomen Diagnosis Impected stool Management Manual evacuation and rectal wash done under general anaesthesia

Impacted stool can turn into an emergency if symptoms become severe in the absence of timely treatment. The hard fecal mass can exert pressure on the colon walls and cause tissue death (necrosis), ulceration or perforation. Colon perforation can cause leakage of stool into the abdominal cavity, leading to infection,

Impacted stool causing distension or SAIO Yes if enemas fails than only way to remove manually and if that too doesn't work than exploration is option Well done After pt settles down go for Proctoscopy or colonoscopy to r/o ant rectal or colonic pathology
