Indigestion

Indigestion is also called as dyspepsia. It is discomfort in upper abdomen.  Indigestion is one of the most common ailments of the intestines. Chronic digestive problem can trigger indigestion. Indigestion frequently occurs during pregnancy. Hypersecretion of gastric fluid (hydrochloric acid) may lead to dyspepsia, gastro esophageal reflex disease, bilious vomiting and if not treated then to peptic ulcer. Causes: - overeating or eating too fast - fatty or spicy foods - Lying down too soon after eating - drinking too much alcohol, caffeine - Smoking - Anxiety, stress - Eating habits and lifestyle choices - acid reflux disease (GERD) - peptic ulcers - side effects of medications - bile duct or pancreatic abnormalities - Gastric cancer - Constipation - Gastritis Symptoms: Mild indigestion: - Upper abdominal pain or discomfort - Heartburn - Belching -Nausea - Abdominal bloating - Feeling full after eating only a small amount of food - burning in upper abdomen Severe indigestion: - unexplained weight loss - Fatigue or weakness - Black, tarry stools - Trouble swallowing - repeated vomiting or vomiting with blood - Get medical help right away if you have shortness of breath, sweating, or pain that spreads along your jaw, neck, or arm. Treatment: - Avoid spicy, fatty foods that can trigger heartburn. - Reduce stress through yoga or relaxation therapy. - Try not to chew with your mouth open, talk while you chew, or eat too fast.  - Avoid late-night eating. - Avoid alcohol and quit smoking - avoid drink that have caffeine - Don't exercise with a full stomach Few homoeopathic remedies: - Lycopodium - Nux vomica - Arsenicum album - Calcarea carbonica - Carbo vegetablis - Natrum muriaticum - Sulphur - Pulsatilla - Bryonia - Antimonium crudum
