Intricate issues in telemedicine

Physician-patient relationship in telemedicine and cyber medicine: Can relationship of physician and patient in telemedicine be compared to that of telephone consultation for existence of doctor-patient relationship?

Relationship between patient Physician in both cyber and telemedicine are temporary and lack of trust due to some medico legal aspect is there. Both needs clear cut guidelines from government of india or authority concerned. I am in favour of practically examination and feeling songs and symptoms before prescribing medicines it's ok under circumstances of COVID we are practicing . Also as per our education no these pathies were in existence and not taught to us.

Yes sir, there is no statutory law in this subject. Department of IT formulated set of "Standards and Guidelines for practice of Telemedicine in India" in 2003 but not being made law yet. No reported judgements also from courts.

Telemedicine or telephonic consultation can not be replacement of clinical examination or physical attendence hence relationships can not be viewed in that perspective as in present environment of covid pandemic this offers good alternative to keep bondage with your pt

Thanx dr Ashok Leel

Telemedicine is the use of technology that enables remote healthcare (telehealth). Basically it makes it possible for physicians to treat patients whenever needed and wherever the patient is, by using a computer or smartphone. ... -Post-treatment checkins or follow up for chronic care

Telephonic consultation is based only on audio conversation Telemedicine involves both audio and video communication Telemedicine gives far more patient satisfaction as compared to only telephonic conversation
