Is loperamide safe in 3 yr old baby?? If yes then how much dose??
In general I avoid loperamide, it has potential for causing paralytic ileus, which can lead to septicemia Loperamide has very few and specific indication, it needs to be avoided in treatment of infective diarrhoea
BELOW.. 2 YRS AGE .. IT IS CONTRAINDICATED.. AS IT IS NOT SAFE.. RECOMMENDED..ABOVE 8 ..YRS OF AGE..
Should be avoided because some time it causes paralytic ileus
Avoid use in children below 6 yrs of age. Above 6 yrs ,maximum 4mg can be given in a day.
Yes The dose at the start of treatment is usually higher than the doses after each loose stool (diarrhoea).
Though it is not safe but some times we have to give it
No don't use Above 6 year Use racedrotil
No
Not safe. Better to avoid. with other options.
Avoid in children
