Neither oral nor iv iron preparations are indicated in 1st trimester. It is better to keep patient on nutritional therapy till 12 -14 wks. (Iron rich idet + vit c + multivitamin with bcomplex) 2nd trimester onwards you can start with oral or iv iron as indicated. Keep monitoring cbc if severe anemia develos then she needs blood transfusion in 1 st trimester than iv iron sucrose
