In the later part of mental cycle, if pregnancy is absent, the corpus luteum regresses and this results in progesterone levels to sharply decline. It is this marked reduction in progesterone that triggers an influx of inflammatory mediators into the endometrium leading to shedding and menstruation. Maintenance of progesterone levels limits endometrial inflammation and prevents menstruation. Thus if progesterone level is maintained with help of medicines, the menstruation is prevented which prevented heavy menstrual bleeding

Normal menstural cycle conissts of two parts which is useally of 28 to 30 days duration in female. In first half of 14 days cycle serum oestrogen level gradully rises at its peak.oestrogen hormones helps in engorgement and proliferation of endometrial vessels then it regresses and serum progestrone gradully rises to its optimum at 28 days then declnes so repture of endometrial vessels repture and bleeding occurs. At 14 days ovulation occurs and corpus luetum after shedding of ovum secrates progestrone. So decreased level of progestrone ensuses mensturation. To stop bleeding progestrone pills is given normally. In Dub of unknown cause progestrone pill is given and cause of DUB is find out.

With drawl bleeding stops excess bleeding is due to Harmonal withdrawal
