Lump in abdomen

A case of lump in abdomen. USG and CECT were done and led us to correct diagnosis: Extrahepatic, peritoneal hydatid cyst. Chief Complaints Mass in abdomen Some mobility present Decreased appetite History No significant past medical or family history. Non-vegetarian diet. Stray dog adopted by family. Low socioeconomic strata. Vitals Slightly elevated temperature (99°F to 100°F) Occasional flushing Rest WNL Physical Examination Mass ~24 × 10 × 8 cm in RIF Limited mobility present Mild tenderness present Investigations Raised ESR 50mm/hr Rest WNL Management Laparotomy and excision

Aim in hydatid cyst excision is in toto excision without spilage or packing abdominal cavity so as to avoid contamination with prior injection of formalin in cyst .As you have succeeded removing cyst in toto, cyst being extra hepatic. Nicely performed surgery Congratulations.

It is av very nice case, hydatid cyst was removed totally without any spillage of its content, that is a great achievement Spillage of content can give rise to recurrence.
