Appendix- Histopathology- Ovum / ova.

Please identify the organism inside the lumen of appendix. 1st, 2nd and 3rd frames are 4x 10x and 40x mag. Respectively.

Two possibilities: 1. This is a longitudinal section. Therefore, a big appearing Ascaris is a diagnosis. or 2. This is an ovum of an intestinal fluke. The case could not be followed up. Thank you all the learned Medical Professionals for providing your views.

The size of the ovum is far greater than that of nematodes, even cystodes. To me the ova belongs to trematode like to be one of Fasciola sp.
