First step is to establish death .The following help to routinely recognise and establish death . 1 No spontaneous movement 2 No respiratory efforts for more than a minute . 3 No heart sound or palpable pulse for more than a minute . 4 Absence of reflexes e.g. corneal reflex ( cranial nerve v,vii nuclei in pons ) Pupillary light reflex Dilated & fixed not reactive pupil to light (cranial nerve ii,iii nuclei in mid brain) Occulicephalic reflex : Dolls eye movement absent ( cranial nerve iii,vi,VIII nuclei in midbrain / pons ) Pharyngeal gag reflex absent ( cranial nerve ix,X nulei in medulla) Cough reflex ( tracheal reflex) absent ( cranial nerve X nulei in medulla) Absent response to painful stimuli in trigeminal nerve distribution ( cranial nerve v,vii nuclei in pons ) A patient is considered to be dead when there is a complete and irreversible cessation of cardiac, respiratory and brain stem function ( cessation of all vital function including brain stem function) Carotid pulse should palpate for more than a minute,Heart sound should ausculted over left entire precordium more than a minute ,ECG done flat line / asystole _ CARDIAC ARREST B/L breath sound should checked in b/l entire lung field ,no respiratory efforts for more than a minute _ RESPIRATORY ARREST Dilated fixed & non reactive pupil, absent corneal reflex ,absent dolls eye movement, absent gag reflex, cough reflex,no response to deep painful stimuli in trigeminal nerve distribution_ absent BRAIN STEM REFLEX

No signs of life are seen Pupils are dialated and fixed not reacting to light Cessation of respiration whatsoever despite cpr given No heart beats whatsoever audible or traceable on ECG remember you may see some ventricular beats till molecular death occurs hence wait for 10 to 15 mts repeat ecg and get a straight line to declare dead Bp pulse are not felt or recordable Skin temperature is cold and calmy Paleness and if happen to long pause you may see rigor mortis and PM lividity

* Pupil fixed and dilated ** No radial and carotid artery pulsation Absence of heart beat * Cessation of repiration. ** Skin temp start decreasing so the colour of skin Pl wait for atleast 15 to 20 mts and examine twice before declaring body dead.

Identity confirmed by wrist band. General inspection. No signs of respiratory effort. No response to verbal stimuli. No response to painful stimuli. No pupillary response to light. No central pulse. No heart sounds after 3 minutes of auscultation.

Look for breathing which is absent. Bilateral pupils fixed dilated. No pulse, no BP recordable. Cold clamy extremities. Above all flat ECG. Declare dead.

Stuper...Not responding to violent stimulation.. No pupillary reflexes...No central pulse..No heart sound nor inspiration and expiration.

* PULSES.. RADIAL.. CAROTID.. * APNOEA.. * PUPILARY REFLEXES.. * HEART SOUNDS.. AUSCULTATION..

Thanks sir

Must do ECG IT WILL BE FLAT, PUPIL WILL BE DILATED NOT REACT TO LIGHT

Hi dr. Vital to be checked. BP. No sign/record of bp Pulse. No rate/rhythm/beat Breathing. Respiration. By using paper/glass close to nose ECG. No record of ecg (flate ecg will come) Pupil. Dialated with membranous

You should have to check eye pupil for dilated & fixed by torch Femoral artey & carotid artery pulsation Heart sound by stethoscope Main is L2 lead in ECG Shows asystole
