Respected Vaidyas, Today I came across a very important Shloka from Sushruta Samhita Sutrasthana 46 , which instructs us about the precautions to be taken just after taking a major diet. " Bhuktwa Rajabat Aasit Yabat AnnaKlamo Gatah. Tatah Pada Shatam gatwa Vamaparshwena Sambishet. " ( Reference - Su. Sutra - 46 / 493 ) Description - This Shloka describes about 3 procedures which must be followed by each individual just after taking major diet. Bhuktwa - One who has just taken a major diet 1. Rajabat Aasit Yabat Anna Klamo Gata - The person must sit in a erect posture ( just like a King seated on his Chair ) still the heaviness of Anna releived. 2. Padam Shatam Gatwa - Walking about 100 steps 3. Vamaparshwena Sambishet - Taking rest on left lateral postion ( Stomach Side Position ) Scientifical Analysis - 1. Sitting in erect posture just after taking a major diet helps in proper peristaltic movement ( Purasara Gati ) in MahaSrotas ( Oesophagus ). As a result of which, proper enzymatic reactions occur inside the digestive system in due time. 2. Walking upto 100 feets helps in relieving of Udgara as a result of which Samana Vayu is properly functioned in Amashaya level. 3. Taking rest a while in left lateral postion helps in excess blood flow to stomach which eases the digestion process. With regards, Vd. Niranjan Ram

Nice presentation of a very important fact and basic rule to be followed by everyone When this was taught to me by my guru in first year of bams , she told about why we should lie down on वामपार्श्व ( left lateral position ) because of position of stomach is towards left and also shape of stomach .. So after when we lie on left side than food settles on left side naturally to gravity In this position its like cooking food by giving heat from below as in kitchen Here agnitatva is always urdhwagami (flames also go in upward direction ) similarly here settled food's digestion is started well with agni (now a days also we find that gastric, duodenal , pancraeatic and billiarydigestive juices and enzymes come upward if we remain empty stomach for a longer period even when we are hungry ....showing kind of agnitatva present in them which goes upward against the gravity

Nice corelation @Dr. Sachin Kadlag Sir
