Role of mifepristone in missed abortion

Mifepristone acts by inhibiting progesterone effect causing neceosis of decidual tissue. In missed abortion, placental tissue is already dead. Hence no role of mifepristone

It's old name is RU486,it's potent progesterone receptor antagonist, induced decidual necrosis with placental detachment,it's sensitised uterus to prostaglandin induced uterine contractions with soften and dilated cervix
