Gingival swelling and DM.
She is 50 years old woman ,c/o weakness and malaise and loosing weight . Weight 40 kg. Blood sugar Fasting ,390 mg post prandial 490 mg. BP140/90 ECG.ST seg raised V4,5,6. Chest Xray normal. Cholesterol 480 mg. Creatinine :normal Urea :60 mg. Oral cavity gums are swollen . Please discuss the case.
This is the case of gingivitis. DM and unhygienic oral cavity and anaerobically induced infection may produced similar gingival swelling. DM and its control with oral cavity hygiene improvement may help to cure the condition.Dental root pathology has to be ruled out. D/D amlodipine medication, Phenytoin drugs leukemia scurvy all to be keep in mind . simple metronidazole and doxycycline may help to treat the case plus control of diabetes. Dentist advise for scaling may help the patient to improve further.

Hy doc, It's a case of gingival swelling/hypertrophy due to deposition of stains and calculus on teeth and the subgingival region. Kindly start antibiotics a day before scaling, then next day do scaling and medications for 3 days. Also, application of metrohex gel and usage of mouthwash is recommended. Thank you.
Do HIV testing as it is associated with weight loss,malaise,loos stools Control DM
Refer to dental surgeon.. Maintain oral hygiene Dental counseling Topical metronidazole or topical corticosteroid gels . If drung induced then possible to little chsnges in medication..
Case of Gingival enlargement . Treatment ,1.Gel Metrogyl-DG forte , apply Thrice daily. 2 .Mouth gargle -Betadin , added 2 TS in half glass of warm water then gargle twice . 3. Cap.Cobadex-forte ,OD at night for 7 days. Advice ,Control blood sugar level taking antidiabetic drugs .

The culprit here is high sugar levels. Get that under control and follow normal prophylaxis with antibiotic cover would be good
First of all control the hyperglycemia... Then start the antiboitic and oral hygiene...

A 65 year old female patient presented with c/o swelling and purulent discharge from the lower and upper gums, gradually progressive and burning sensation mouth while eating for one year. She also revealed taking some unknown medicine for sore throat 1 year back. Apart from this she is also complaining of non productive chronic cough for last 3 years. She is non diabetic.
