What's happening?
6years girl children intake at work rupee coin and stuck in throat. Chief Complaints Nausea, short of breath due to vomiting. Sweat and nervous feel. Investigations Tagged X-RAY Diagnosis Seen the old two rupee Indian coin in throat. Management Please suggest???
Xray reveals coin in anterior aspect of throat, and there is respiratory problems like shortness of breath. Examine the bilateral lung air entery and ask for oral intake whether child have difficulty in drinking liquids or swallowing food stuff. Coin likely to be in trachea or on the top of trachea. Adv for ENT specialist opinion and bronchoscopy
It time and date of ingestion of coin and xray if it is found that it has stuck in throat and not moving down and time period of presence of FB in the same place longer period of time and produces symptoms indicate urgent removal If it passes down and no symptoms can wait but pt is six years old and coin size is comparatively bigger it is better to remove early.
An endoscopy may be done if the food does not pass. A scope will be passed through the mouth and down the throat. Small tools will be passed down the tube to remove the food or push it down to the stomach. Your doctor will look for possible reasons the food was blocked
Foreign body in throat It's emergency Keep body upside down Give pressure at epigastrium chance it will come out Otherwise scopy removal
Well defined coin foreign body stuck at trachea needs urgent intervention as child seems to be hypoxic Admit under emergency
Urgent Ct neck . Urgent CT surgeon/ ENT opinion. Layngoscopy and retrieval of coin. Life threatening situation
As par the age and size of foreign body,it is better to remove the foreign body by endoscopy
If the FB stuck in trachea xray should look vertical slit view, so it is not in trachea
Bronchoscopy and removal of coin
I would suggest urgent Endoscopic removal and other supportive treatment
