Professor Sir John Charnley.. He was a British orthopaedic surgeon, inventor and skilled craftsman. He is best known for his development of the first truly successful operation for total arthroplasty of the hip, the low-friction arthroplasty.

69 year old lady with a mass involving the dorsal aspect of the hand. She had been carrying the swelling for the last 8 years and since he last 3 years it started increasing in size. There was no Neuro-vascular deficit. Fnac - lipomatous swelling. MRI revealed an extensive swelling involving the dorsum and extending on to the thenar eminence. Complete excision was done and the entire lump was resected en mass. HPE- lipoma. Reason for highlighting the case - unusual location for a lipoma
