World Breastfeeding Week 1st August - 7th August

If a mother is HIV or COVID-19 positive there is a risk of transmission to the baby during the pregnancy or birth, as well as during breastfeeding. Will you recommend these mothers to breastfeed their children or not?



Yes ,I will recomend breastfeeding, best for baby and far as transmission of HIV and COVID is concern they are transmitted through placenta .

Yes breastfeeding is recommended in Baby of HIV positive mothers even though there is risk of transmission through breastmilk.they are prescribed nevirapine for 6weeks.The disadvantages of bottle feed are far more dangerous than risk of HIV transmission.

Exclusive breast feeding to the baby even if mother is HIV positive as infection transmitted already but breast milk best support for gut immunity when baby will be on antiviral.
