2 months old infant - For inguinal hernia should be operated at the earliest because of the risk of strangulation. For umbilical hernia wait till child is 2 years old as many umbilical hernias reduce with growing age and by 2 years reassess the child- it it has reduced sufficiently no further treatment is required- otherwise surgery can be planned
Inguinal hernia needs to be treated by herniotomy, umbilical hernia tobe followed by wait and watch policy,to see whether it closes naturally.
It’s just repair the defect. herniorrhaphy
