HERPES ZOSTER

55 years female complaining Multiple vesicles on the right half of the neck since 3 days. Burning sensation and pricking sensation Which dermatome involved? What nerve is involved Right and good management?

Good answers doctors . 1) C3 C4 dermatomal involvement . 2) mandibular branch of trigeminal nerve. 3) All doctors given right treatment . But in my experience 4 th day onwards better to start Gabapentine .

Mandibular devision of Trigeminal nerve distribution only is invoved. Herpes zoster. Time to start antiviral, oral and topical as per guidelines. Donot personally advise gabapentine at this stage. Supportive/ symptomatic therapy.

Herpes Zoster involving V3 and C3C4 dermatomes.Start immediately 1. Acyclovir tabs 800mg thrice daily 2.Nortriptaline+Carbamezapine tab to control neuralgic pain.3.Locally Calamine lotion.

Dr kishore kumar sir What dose ( u prefer)and for what lengh of time u suggest gabapentine starting from 72 hrs of onset ? Is it for every pt in whom it is not contraindicated or is there any perricular pt profile you chose ?. The details would be beneficial. Kindly clarify sir . Regards..

Herpes zoster involving mandibular division of trigeminal nerve

Herpes Zoster . Oral acyclovir 400 mgs. 5 times for 5 days. Along with local zovirax or any acyclovir ointment . NSAID for pain and neurobion tab 2 times daily .

Herpes zoster involving mandibular division of trigeminal nerve. Rx Acyclovir 800mg X 5 times a day for 7 days Local application of acyclovir ointment Analgesics SOS Pregablin only for post herpetic neuralgia.

Herpes zoster , valcivir 1g / day for 5-7 days , pain killer both NSAIDs and neurogenic such as carbamazepine , antibiotics both locally and orally if super aided infection , isolation if possible
