Crocodile tear or paradoxic lacrimation is a very rare condition .There is excessive tearing while eating. It is mostly unilateral. This affection is aberrant regeneration of the nerve fibres occurring as a sequel of facial nerve palsy. Synkinetic ptosis, popularly known as Marcus Gunn jaw winking phenomenon is a type of congenital ptosis characterized by unilateral ptosis , the dropped lid rising above when the patient opens up the mouth or moves the jaw to the other side ; the affection is most likely due to abnormal nervous communication from the t rigeminal nerve to the levator palpebrae superioris. @ Dr Gowhar Ahmad

Yes —in recovery from facial palsy nerve fibre undergo synkinesis or are misdirected to inervate lacrimal gland instead of submandibular salivary gland and regenerative nerve are directed towards lacrimal gland nd leading to lacrimation instead of salivation
