6 yesrs old male. C/c; progressing ulcerations all over the mouth despite medication. HOPI; it all started with fever 3 days back followed by stomach ache and few small ulcers in upper lip. The mother gave paracetamol and cetirizine. Next day, the pt was shown to the physician who prescribed amoxicillin, vit supplementations and nystatin paste. On the 4th day, the pt was brought to the dental OPD. the mom said the oral lesions only got worst and the physician suggested for dental opinion. Medication history; amoxicillin, cetirizine, paracetamol, nystatin paste, vit b/complex, c, and B12. On oral examination; multiple ulcers all over the oral cavity, gingival inflamation, white patches on the tongue. Mobile 71,81. BOP +ve. Lympyh nodes; NAD. Febrile. DD; herpetic gingivostomatitis, aphthous stomatitis, Candidiasis. Management; the pt was managed as a case of 'pry. Herpetic gingivostomatitis. Acyclovir 100mg 5 times daily for 1 week. Betadine mouthrinse. ( parent was asked to assist the child, and ensure the child doesnt swallow). Continue with the vit supplementations and nystatin paste. Lognocaine gel 2%. ( sig; apply 10 mins prior meals or prn.) Increased fluid intake and bed rest. Avoid hot foods and drinks for few days. Pt was asked to present the child back to dental OPD if the lesions doesnt improve in 3-4 days or if it gets worst. Incase of full recovery, pt was asked to come back for review. Pt came to our OPD on 7th day with complete recovery. The piks are shared for your viewing and any suggestions criticisms are warmly welcomed.

A well managed case of Herpetic Gingivostomatitis Only suggestion, for the purpose of clicking pictures of such viral lesions please wear gloves. Also advice the patients and the parents not to touch the lesions in order to avoid self innoculating Herpetic Whitlow.
