Eczema(atopic dermatitis) .Family history is more important esp for hay fever, rhinitis, food allergy, asthma.diagnosis based mostly on history and clinical examination. But if u r uncertain about this case skin biopsy may be useful.bathing is recommended.don't use soap on the affected areas.to relieve itching prescribe lactocalamine aloe vera lotion twice a day.I would not recommend any antihistamine but would prescribe one if this condition causes sleeping trouble.for mild to moderate condition topical corticosteroid like betamethasone or hydrocortisone cream applying once daily is enough.if it provides less or no relief use stronger combination topical steroid like clobetasol in combination with neomycin and miconazole and zinc sulphate but daily application is not recommended esp in children.History taking is most imp in eczema esp past and family history before establishing final diagnosis.prognosis is good with topical treatment.
