ABPI ( ANKLE BRACHIAL PRESSURE INDEX ).

The ankle brachial pressure index ( ABPI ), test is widely used to diagnose peripheral arterial disease ( PAD ) as well as asses how Will patients responding to treatment. It will measure the Blood pressure in upper arm and ankles using a cuff and a Doppler probe. In a normal individual , the ( ABPI ) is between 0:92 and 1.3 with the majority of people having a ratio between non-compressible blood vessel. An ( ABPI ) <0.9 an ( ABPI ) > 0.5 and < 0.9 Indicates of non - compressible blood vessel. An ( ABPI ) < 0.9 Indicates some arterial pressure / Disease an ( ABPI ) > 0.5 AND < 0.8 .
