A child aged 10 years Chief Complaints Diarrhoea (on/off) Watery Small volume Non bloody (x 1 month) Mild Pain abdomen (x 20 days) Physical Examination Pall (+) P/A - Soft, BS (+) Investigations Hb - 10.3 ESR - 53 CRP - 25 Colonoscopy done showed loss of vascular pattern and superficial ulceration with overlyimg whitish exudate in sigmoid and rectum

It could be infectious colitis But biopsy needs to be done rule out similar colonoscopy features in ulcerative colitis . Treatment- Depends upon the biopsy report ..if infectious then Rifaximin 200 mg T.D.S for 1 month along with a pre- probiotic and a digestive enzyme . If ulcerative colitis- specific treatment is required
