Covid-19 and mental health

Covid 19 infection has increased the incidence of depression , anxiety and panic attack disorder and acute transient psychosis. The mechanism of this appears more to be 1. long standing oxygen deficit that causes anoxia to the brain and damages the normal neurochemical functioning. 2.The release of harmful/toxic proteins or end products by the virus that causes damage to the neuronal pathways and also abnormal electrical activities in brain. 3. The virus has the potential to cause blood clotting(embolism) 4. It hampers the normal endorphin formation in the body that leads to severe depression and anxiety disorders. There can be a number of other possible reasons under the radar. Besides vaccination, there should be consideration towards the mental health. It is not only the patient but also the family members/care takers who suffer due to this infection.
