Croup
Introduction:- Mostly, croup occurs in the children. In this disease, first of all, the child’s throat becomes swell. Sometimes he has fever due to disturbance in the throat. Child feels suddenly during sleep at night as if his breath is stopping and due to which, he/she starts up. Due to croup, the face of the child turns in to red and then yellow, looks obliquely, throat nerves get swelling, spasm of the hands and legs. After sometimes a strange voice begins to produce from breath. There are 3 reasons of croup- Spasmodic croup, Catarrhal croup and Membranous croup. Spasmodic croup:- 1. Belladonna- If croup suddenly occurs due to spasm or any other reasons, giving Belladonna 3 or 6 is very useful for the patient. Catarrhal croup:- 1. Aconite, Spongia or Hepar:- If croup is started suddenly in the condition of catarrh and cough of the patient, first of all, give Aconite 200 and then after 3-4 hours, Spongia 200 should be given; after 3-4 hours, Hepar 200 should be given again to the patient. Membranous croup:- 1. Kali-bicrome or Bromine:- If mucus membrane has stuck inside the throat which is hard and like long thread, use this drug. It is also very effective to foment the throat from the vapour of solution prepared after adding few drops of Bromine 2x in hot water.
