Corona virus does infect animals .. Recent reports of SARS-CoV-2 infecting creatures such as monkeys, dogs, ferrets, domestic cats and even a tiger have raised the possibility that the pathogen could plague other species—including, perhaps, ones already imperiled by other, non-infectious threats. Unfortunately for humans and our animal relatives, SARS-CoV-2’s key, called spike protein, is a multifunctional tool. It homes in on a cellular lock called ACE2—a blood pressure-regulating protein thought to be universal among vertebrates, the group that includes mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish, says Jim Wellehan, a zoologist and microbiology at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

Yes. Animals can get infected with Covid-19. Many cases are coming up in which animals are showing symptoms of coronavirus and the main mode of transmission is contact with an infected person. There are also reports of animals having Covid 19 from different parts of the world after humans. Usually, corona virus is present in animals and birds, but it does not harm them and under normal circumstances it does not even enter humans.
Animals are roaming free, they are enjoying the best time. Lets wait till we extend lockdown to them @@Saloni Arora

SARS, MERS, COVID 19 all had animal host first. It transmitted from animal to animal of different species. Then mutated to become a human virus once it transmitted to human body. The spike proteins attach themselves to the alveoli of lungs n stimulate the release of inflammatory mediators that leads to destruction/rupture of alveolar sacs.

Studies have suggested Coronavirus do infects animals like bats, ferrets and cat but rate of transmission is low due to high Virulance .Homosapiens are vulnerable to virus may be its a way of nature to keep human atrocities at bay but hopefully owing to herd immunity or miracle vaccine things fall in place .

It's simple ...the immune interface of animals is very much sophisticated than humans...the reason being that , animals don't eat what they are not supposed to eat... example you will never see a pig dying in the gutter sewer, but a human will not survive an hour in the same shit.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses. Some coronaviruses cause cold-like illnesses in people, while others cause illness in certain types of animals, such as cattle, camels, and bats. Some coronaviruses, such as canine and feline coronaviruses, infect only animals and do not infect humans.
