Hy doc, Well, for this I would suggest you to read access opening of mandibular molars from Grossman's Endodontic practice book, as there everything is mentioned in great detail... Also, as the name suggests, mesiobuccal and mesiolingual, the canals will be located in that directions only. Mesiobuccal will be more on the buccal side mesially and mesiolingual will be on the lingual side mesially.. And distal canal will be located below the central fossa.... If distal canal is located buccally, then try to find distal canal on lingual side too... However, the canal morphology can differ in different cases, but, I told you the ideal morphology, rest you can get a clear picture by taking X-Ray from 3-4 different angulations. Thank you

Some times it can be extremely difficult to find canals because of different morphology and anatomy However it is important to find canals in order to achieve complete disinfection of cavity Proper unroofing is just the beginning Now a days there are many technology available to make the difficult task easy Dental operating microscope with ultrasonic tip is just to name few tools However, there is no comparison for experience It is only experience which is going to teach you proper direction in each case, so have patience, use common sense and tricks, they will help you in difficult circumstances

Hello doc, First find the distal canal ( the largest and thus, the easiest one to locate ). Then, maintains the same depth of the bur in the canal, guide your airotor towards the MB cusp. The MB canal will be present at an imaginary line drawn from the MB cusp tip perpendicular to the pulpal floor. Thereafter, ( maintaining the same depth of the bur ) gently cut through the Dentin towards the lingual side. You will find the ML approx. 2-3mm from MB canal. Tip :- Follow the dentinal map and the map will lead you to all the canals.

The very best and most accurate determination of root canal morphology is by cbct
