Elbow joint injury

Sports injury on elbow joint Chief Complaints Pt complains of pain in the right elbow joint History While doing workout of triceps in gym 2months back, right elbow joint began to hurt while doing heavy wt lifting for triceps. No problems of wt lifting for triceps as such but it hurts on right and can not lift heavy wts..comfortable with lighter wts... Physical Examination Tenderness of right elbow on palpation.. Pt also complains of tenderness if tries to rest his elbow on any hard surface. Slight tenderness present on applying resistance to pushing movement of triceps Management What could be the possible reason? Can it be ligament injury? Treatment for same

Possibly acute or chronic strain of triceps insertion Check olecranon for tenderness Analgesics Chymoral Arm sling and rest for one week

Tenderness and pain on resting at hard surface suggest there is inflammation of soft tissue in his case might be triceps or any ligament which is stained during exercises may be due to excessive weight lifting or wrong position or posture while doing exercises. Any soft tissue injury will take time to heal between 3 to 12 weeks depending upon severity of injury. Simply just icing every 2-3 hourly, Can apply local ointment like volini if more pain Just Optimally load the tissue That is bend or extend elbow with minimum pain or within minimum pain range ( IT IS BETTER THAN REST ) every 2 hourly avoid any exercises that increases pain Avoid static position that is don't keep elbow in one position for More than 30 min keep your elbow moving. Can take NSAIDs if too much of pain Wishing you speedy recovery Thanks

Silicone elbow support (band) may be helpful. Also ultrasonic therapy with low intensity for 10 days can be applied.

Check for swelling and tenderness over pronator teres area or around rt epicondyle. If it's positive then check for tennis elbow by lifting middle finger against resistance with resting forearm.

No such things... neither any swelling anywhere. pt can do all regular works just as normally is.. he can even do his regular gymming sessions and all others normal day to day works no prb.. but any resistance against flexion of right arm.. causes a tenderness on right elbow... and on palplation of the elbow as well.. tenderness
