Traumatic rupture of the tunica albuginea with either one or both corpora cavernosa of the penis is known as penile fracture. This may be associated with corpus spongiosum or urethral injury. In cases of penile fracture, emergency surgical exploration with closure of the tunica albuginea is the treatment of choice. Early surgery (36 to 48 hours) also results in significantly fewer complications vs delayed surgery especially for penile curvature
