Human CACNA1D wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 3p14.3 and is approximately 318 kb in length. This allele, which encodes voltage-dependent L-type calcium channel subunit alpha-1D protein, plays a role in voltage-dependent membrane polarization. Mutation of the gene is associated with sinoatrial node dysfunction and deafness.
